This is not an exclusive list and your best bet is to chat to locals who know what works and when, advice can also be sought from Ma Simes website or shop.

Freshwater West

Best time is whenever the surfs up, if you are stuck for a venue this is probably the best place to catch waves in Pembrokeshire. If it’s not working here you will be lucky to find waves anywhere in Pembrokeshire.

With good left and right handers, south of the beach being better at low tides but the whole beach often has great wave potential, though be careful as the rip here is as notorious as the waves.

Manorbier

Best time North Easterly and South Easterly winds and just after high tide.

Great right hander picked up over the undying rocks and finishes over the beach, mainly recognised as an experienced surfer’s beach beginners could pick up over the sand beach break.

Newgale

Best Time East to North easterly are offshore and low and mid tides

A great and popular beach which has produced some good waves, long boarders find it particularly good.

Whitesands

Best time during North Easterly and South Easterly after high tide and a couple of hours before low tide.

Produces a good right hander when it’s working, popular with all manner of surf searchers. The local café is ace and has a really great selection of cakes and drinks not to be missed. http://whitesandsbeachcafe.com/Whitesands_Beach_Cafe/Welcome.html

Tenby

Best time is when westerly and northerly winds are offshore and just after high tide.

South beach is considered the best when it’s working but generally a big swell is required, when it comes it can provide good hollow right and left handers.

 

Freshwater East

Best Time during offshore North westerly to Westerly winds.

Like Tenby when it’s working can be a good spot but again needs a big swell to get things rolling.
